New England Fine Living's Fall 2015 Magazine Launch Party

I know, I know!  I'm a little behind schedule (okay a lot behind schedule), but I am finally posting a few more photos of our fall 2015 magazine launch party. The photos were taken before our 70 or so partners and guests arrived.

The event was held in one of the beautiful model homes by The Residences at Turner Hill, in Ipswich, MA, available for sale at $1.9 million.

The view was spectacular!

Farmhouse Country decorating in New England with a touch of southern style.

Design and Inspiration
By: Linda Calder

Inspired by a photo of Grace Kelly in a red dress, lounging on a black and white sofa with yellow pillows, Kim wanted to create a space that was classic, fun, and fresh.

The linen toile from GP & Baker keeps the black and white buffalo check from looking too country.  To tie the colors together, she added a yellow trim to the seating, and the ceiling was painted San Pedro Morning, by Benjamin Moore.  “Even on a snowy winter day, my house feels like the sun is shining!” says Kim. In 2014, interior designer Kim Macumber and her husband decided to move to a smaller home after three of their four children were off to college.  With that decision made and plans set in motion, they both agreed to find a home that needed little to no work.

Visiting the Island of Nantucket and enjoying the Nantucket lifestyle.

In May, 2015, we visited the Nantucket Resort and the article ran in our summer 2015 issue.  Below are some of the late spring photos we took that did not go into the magazine plus some of the summer photos supplied by the Nantucket Resort.  Please enjoy

Heading south or an upscale island getaway
By Linda Calder

Less than a two-hour car ride away, the ferry to Nantucket awaits. From Hyannis, one hour on the Hy-Line will land you on this island of choice for a few days of rest and relaxation.

We opted to take the Hy-Line ferry since passage from Cape Cod to Nantucket was only an hour, but if you want more time to relax and let your busy life slowly fade like waves in the distance, there is always the choice to hop on the Steamship Authority ferry.

Lucky me, I accidentally took a photo of the Google Map on my phone when I was looking to see how close we were.  We're almost there!

Interior Design and Entertaining Book Addiction

"Hello my name is Linda, and I am a book addict."

Yes, I admit it, I have a problem with buying books AND magazines.  I can't help it, they are my go to drug when I want to escape perusing the internet.  For me it is relaxing to flip the pages of a book vs swiping my finger across a screen or clicking a mouse.

With that said, I pulled together a few books below that might interest you.

Country Living in Connecticut with Nora Murphy

On New Year's Eve day, I had the wonderful opportunity to take a leisurely drive to Connecticut and have coffee with Nora Murphy, the creator of Nora Murphy Country House.

The purpose of the visit was networking and business, but while I was there, Nora gave me a quick house tour (she was hosting a New Year's Eve party and I had to drive back to Massachusetts to attend one). I quickly pulled out my phone and began snapping away taking photos, like a tourist on vacation, knowing the tour would soon end.

Please enjoy this quick unedited and unstaged photo tour of Nora's home.  To see these rooms, in all their glory, please visit Nora's website Nora Murphy Country House.
